Despite having a reputation as being a little rough around the edges, the Motor City harbors many worthwhile cultural attractions, historical landmarks and fun things to do. The nearby Eastern Market is another popular activity, where you’ll encounter local purveyors for fresh produce, handmade soaps, fine meats, bakeries, craft beer, flowers and more spread across the historic 43-acre compound. Although the market is free to enter, it will be almost impossible to leave without doing a little shopping at this sprawling public marketplace − the largest of its kind in the country.
