The Kansas State Capitol is a premier destination for a historical tour. Located in city centre Topeka, the entire complex spans about 20 acres and showcases some of the most impressive architectural works in the entire state. 

The building sports a French Renaissance design that dates back to the late 19th century. You can check out numerous murals and sculptures on display, but touring the dome is particularly rewarding, as you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Just be prepared to climb 296 steps to reach to the top.
